but its a duet, (male + female), there singing something about trying to kill each other but they hit the radio and the song on it stops them.

I think you mean the one by Catatonia, she sings about Tom Jones and I think the title is 'I never through my knickers at you' There's a line in the song that says 'you stopped us killing each other' so could be the one you mean
