... if i can use enough to cover up where the cold air is coming in? or do you think that the purpose of fiberglass is to insulate the whole wall from cold? or is a majority of the air coming in from the cracks? and could i get away with filling those cracks if that is where the cold air is coming from and saving money? keep in mind that the garage is being occupyed by a pool table where we play pool.

Insulation in the walls and the ceiling will make the room MUCH MUCH easier to heat and to cool. You need to fill the holes, ALSO

If you don't fill the whole wall there could be a visible line of condensation on the wall due to cold spots. Fill the whole wall cavity, insulation is not that expensive.

get some ready made Polyfilla and a few sheets of sandpaper from a hardware store and a scraper to apply.. apply a few thin coats.. not too heavy.. allowing to dry completely in between.. when filled.. lightly sand the filler to be even with the existing wall..
