I have my candles on my low shelf on the left and on the right my stereo is on the right ... is it alright to have a stereo where I do cast my spells ?

Or could it enhance the aura of that space because it's a musical object?

You are fine. There are lots of people that have music playing during spellwork. It usually helps to raise the energy. Besides if you are limited in the space where else are you going to put? Don't worry about it.

In regards to what Kent.. said: Sacred space can be made anywhere. You do not have separate the mundane because anything can become sacred. Sacred space can be created in your mind. You can do magic in your mind. You do not need physical objects to have sacred space. My best magic is done while I am walking in the metroparks. I visualize sacred space around my body moving with me and I then focus and visualize on my intent.

He does have a point though. I am a kitchen witch and everything I use in ritual is not always separate from my everyday stuff. I use what I have available around. Example is the story about my walk in the park.

It greatly depends on what kind of spell you are casting at the time and the feeling and emotion you want to put into that spell. Pretty much if you cast a spell and the stereo seems out of place to you, you are probably right, and if it doesn't inherently affect the spell on its own, it will influence you, the spellcaster, and thus have an impact.

On the other hand, there are innumerable ways to incorporate music into spellcasting, as I well know. I myself am a student of the bardic arts, a path in which magical ability is largely based on music and/or prose. It is widely accepted, even by those that do not believe in magic, that music has the amazing, inexplicable ability to alter our emotions and thoughts. Anyone wil tell you, for example, that it is impossible to make a good movie without a good soundtrack. Many may not realize it, but a huge part of what you get out of a film is based on what you hear.

So I would definitely suggest using music in your spellcasting, just make certain the feel of the tune is congruent to the feel of the spell you are casting, (this will depend on the spell itself and you personal preferances in music,) and a stero is a perfectly fine method of producing that music. It may even be a more potent method than creating the music yourself, if you are unsure about your musical talent.

I must suggest, even though it is a bit of a digression, that you do practice making some sort of music yourself, be it playing a small hand drum, some sort of whistle, singing/humming/chanting, or something as simple as clapping your hands in a rythmic pattern. If you can do this comfortably, it will effectively increase the potency of your spell. (Harps and bodhrans are thought to be especially magical.)

it depends on the type of music that you play, but all in all i think it will be ok.but i have never tried this b4 though,so i dont know.it may work if you can concentrate properly.if not than you may need to leave the music off and go the other route which is without the music.i would try it a few nights with the radio on or music or whatever you are listening to,and see how it reflects your spells and your magick.and than i would try the music off the next few nights afterwards and see what happens and to see how you feel.there is soooo many ways of finding out the truth of magick, you've just gotta search.

most would consider it inappropriate... its too eay of a shortcut. the point of ritual is to make a sacred space that is separate from the mundane world.

some would take issue with the techology; other with that ritual items should be specificly only for ritual. But the 'kitchen witch' tradition of using regular items for ritual might accept this.

I would do without it for a full year and a day (or longer), just to reinforce that I don't need it. If I were to reintroduce it later on, it would be for very limited and specific instances. Even then, I would have certain CDs that are used only for ritual; they would be kept separately, maybe even in cloth, with your ritual items rather than on your CD rack.

Blessed be.

it does not mater what is around you just what you see and feel in that moment the stronger the need for it to work the stronger the spell.
