If it almost made her cry then there is something wrong with the situation. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with her, but there is something wrong with the situation. She may have an underlying problem if she almost cried from being called OCD, but I don't know the whole story so I can't say. If it was jokingly I would say yeah, sure, but if it made her that upset something needs to be done. Your parents need to know about this, and they may take it to the head of school because a teacher should do nothing to make a student cry. Ever. They may decide that she needs some help with being oversensitive, or they may decide that the teacher needs to work on how she deals with things. It all depends on the situation.

I am pretty OCD too, I don't actually have it (or at least have not been checked for it yet) but I do a lot of things along the lines of OCD. All my teachers joke with me about it when I have to fix the colors of the whiteboard markers, etc. Once I organized a whole box of little piece that we use to build cells and my teacher shook it as a joke saying she was curing my OCD. I got really upset, but we talked about it, just me and her, and I admited that I had taken it too hard and she appologized for upsetting me.

So you could just have your sister talk with the teacher one on one like that and see if it fixed things, and if not take it to the head of school. That might work better.

I think people are getting way too sensitive these days. May-be the teacher was making a joke, or may-be the teacher thinks the kid might really have OCD. Eitherway, I still see no reason for your sister to cry over it.

Your teacher just proved that he/she understands child development and psychology VERY LITTLE. She also hasn't had much diversity training. I think it's really sad that school districts hire people who don't know how to treat children with respect. Believe me, there is a huge list of about twenty symptoms that describe OCD. Having one of those symptoms DOES NOT in any way mean you have OCD.

Did you mean odd? If so, then yes it was inappropriate of the teacher to say. If this greatly affected your sister, then the teacher should be contacted by your parents and asked to apologize to your sister. If you meant ocd, then I have no clue what that refers to and am not able to give a good response to the question.
