We carve the turkey in the kitchen for several reasons. One--we have a large family, so we need as much room as possible for folks to sit, and to put food on the table. Secondly, it's a lot easier to carve the turkey before dinner and have less people handling it. Third, you would have someone "in the way" all the time trying to cut it. Lastly, when we sit down to eat, everyone can eat and no one in particular has to be up and trying to carve the bird in a "aesthetically pleasing" pattern. Just cut the darn thing and eat! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

It's carved in the kitchen even though we have a sit-down dinner. My mom puts platters of fresh cut turkey on the tables. Her parents did it this way also. Maybe it was because we always had multiple tables. But I don't do the carving.

I cook two birds and carve the 1st up completely and keep it in a covered pan with broth until ready to plate up on a large serving platter with the 2nd bird placed in the center(un-cared) surrounded by the carved meat. Makes for a really nice yet simple presentation.

depends on how you are doing it? if you are having a sit down dinner with everything on the table then yes. and the head of the house usually carves the turkey. if you are having it buffet style then no.

I like making buffets so it dont matter to me I do it where I have room and I use a electric knife so it cuts easy. Do it where ever you please. If company don't like it tell them to do it at thier home.
