I have read the post about the chemical equation for making formalin, but I have been trying to come up with an actual working equation for mixing up my own formalin solutiuon from a 52% formaldehyde solution,100% methanol solution, and water. It never seems to come out right, I think there must be some sort of solubility issue that makes my equation invalid. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you want to make 1 Liter of this final solution, you would need to take 721 mL of your 52% formaldehyde solution, add 120 mL of methanol to it and bring the final volume up to 1 Liter with water. You should be able to scale this up or down to make any particular volume you need.

What isn't coming out right in your calculations?
