I collect coins and banknotes and I have a couple of forged £1 coins they are not lead but a base metal softer than a genuine coin and with a gilt finish, you can tell they are fake because if you try and cut the edge of a fake with the edge of a real coin it will leave a nick on the edge I have had one of these coins for several years and I suspect that there is some one in your area passing them off on public transport it may well be that the Polish drivers do not have the experience to tell the difference and who ever is passing these on knows this. I live in Wales so this is a national problem not just confined to your area

I got a fake 2 pound coin in London. Apparently the gold rubs off them so check the side of your 2 pound coins when you get them.
