I would like to put some movies onto my iPod video so I can keep myself entertained while traveling over the Christmas break? I have already ripped some movies from my DVDs with X Copy Platinum but my iPod won't recognize the format that they are in.

from there just follow each step. It's easy and free. You'll be able to put your entire DVD collection on your ipod.
P.S. You must have windows in order to do this.

Didn't they include that information in your iPod manual? I bet they play some specific format. Check the web:
