I don't quite understand your question the way you have worded it. It seems to me you do want something from the other person, i.e., to legalize immigration status, economic reason, etc. However, on the other hand, if I am understanding this correctly, which I am not yet quite sure I am, have you ever heard of loving another person unconditionally? Please rephrase question for clarity!
This is P.S. to previous answer. Again, why can't you love another person unconditionally, that is, not expecting to "get" or "acquire" something from that person as a pay-off. Granted, there are perks and benefits to any relationship, but go into it expecting nothing in return! Hope this answers your question.

I think it is love when you just love a person and NOT want something from them. If you want to be with someone for some kind of personal gain I really don't think that IS love. It sounds more like a business arrangement.

you've just hit the nail on the head. love is something you can't reason or put into words. you don't get somthing materialistic out of it, you just know life is better with that person in it.
