software is of two types.
1>system software
2>application software

system software is software through which our system operates
example: system files, drivers that are installed etc.

the rest of the software which is not system software is application software.

application software is further sub divided into
readymade and tailormade software

readymade software is software that comes as a package but the programme(software) cannot be altered.
example:microsoft word, powerpoint, excel.

tailormade software is software which can be altered to suit the purpose of the user as required.
example:software used for specific purposes in any showroom or service center or business organisation to print bills,invoices
or to keep record of sales etc

Application software is a program that is pretty much anything, like office suites, finance software, etc..., It's anything that has a UI and is useful.

An application software allows you to do things.It is designed for a specific use such as word processing, sending emails and creating new pictures.
