This might be a useful place to begin:

http://www.mycoincollecting.com/silver-coins.html

It also offers links to more detailed coin-pricing, as well as offering information on how a coin's value is determined, so at least if you go in to a shop of some sort, you'll have this information already and you'll be able to discuss it better and, of course, it's always good to have this extra info to be sure that you're receiving a fair appraisal. Good luck with it!

Are you looking for the value of the silver or the value of the coin? I would not go to jewerlers or coin dealers as they usualy screw. If you are basing value on the silver then look up the coin on coin websites to find out how much silver is in the coin, then look up the value of that amount of silver.

You need to go to a coin dealer or an antique store and ask them to help you. Also the library is a good place to find information on the value of old coins.

I particularly have a jar crammed with pennies, shillings, crowns, etc from the overdue 1800's and that they are all valueless yet VERY enormous! even regardless of the undeniable fact that Britain went decimal in 1971, one shilling coin have been nonetheless time-honored as 5p till the top of 1990, and the two shilling money have been nonetheless in flow as 10p till 1993. i won't be able to remark on your unknown coin of direction!
