2(3x+1)=9x-1
First you multiply 2 times (3x+1)
6x+2 = 9x -1
then you subtract 6x from each side
2 = 3x - 1
then you add 1 to both sides
3 = 3x
Divide both sides by 3
x = 1

First of all do the stuff inside of the parentheses.
Then do the multiplications and divisions
and the do the additions and subtractions
so 2(3x+1)=9x-1 is
6x+2=9x-1 which is the same as
6x-9x=-1-2 or
-3x=-3 or
3x=3 then
x=1

2(3x+1) = 9x-1 <=>
2*3x +2*1 = 9x -1 <=>
6x + 2 = 9x -1 <=>
6x +2 -9x +1 =0 <=>
(6x - 9x) + (2+1) = 0 <=>
x(6 - 9) +3 =0 <=>
x(-3) + 3 = 0 <=>
-3x +3 =0 <=>
3 = 3x <=>
x = 1

it is important for u to know your order of operations. first u multiply the 2*(3x+1) so u get 6x+2=9x-1 . then using basic algebra skills, u now try to get all of the x's on one side and the regular numbers on the other side. so this means -6x from both sides so u now have 2=3x-1, now +1 to both sides so u get 3=3x now divide by 3x so x=1. i hope this helps.

2(3x+1)=9x-1
First get rid of the brackets by using distributive property.
6x+2=9x-1
You want to get the x on one side and the numbers on the other. Get rid of the 2. Subtract both sides by 2.
6x+2-2=9x-1-2
6x=9x-3
Now get 9x over to the other side. Subtract 9x on both sides.
6x-9x=9x-9x-3
-3x= -3
You still have to get rif of the -3 on the left to isolate x. Divide both sides by -3.
-3x/-3= -3/-3
x=1

In this kind of question you need to expand the parentheses first. Solve 2(3x + 1) first and then you should be able to solve for x. Keep working hard.

while doing mathematics,never get confused.Try to have a clear concept of the matter.Calculations in brackets or parenthes should always be done first.Moreover,this is an equation.Calcultions of all terms on the left hand right hand side of the "=" sign should be done seperately.Still have a confusion?Please mail to me through Yahoo Answers and I promise you,you would get a prompt reply so that your confusion is removed for ever.best of luck
