Because the clasp is heavier than any other link in the chain and as you move your head back and forth throughout the day, it rotates your chain around and around. Once the clasp settles in the down position, it'll usually stay there because the friction of the chain against your skin isn't strong enough to move it back up.

That always happens to me, too! There must be some physics minded person who knows this one...could it be gravity?? The clasp is probably heavier than a plain chain, but why does it still happen even if there's a heavier charm on the necklace?

Probably because the clasp is heavier than the chain, maybe? You could always get one of those necklaces where the clasp is decorative and meant to be seen :)

Probably due to gravity. The clasp is heavier than the rest of the chain so it will tend to go to the lowest point - in front.

Normally the clasp is too heavy for the chain and the pendant that is on the chain, hence it moving around. It is one of my biggest pet peeves! Soooo annoying!
