What you need to know about it: Abdominal itchiness is a common and annoying pregnancy symptom that's almost inevitable. As your belly grows, the skin stretches rapidly, becoming increasingly moisture-deprived — leaving it itchy and uncomfortable. (Your butt might have a serious case of the itchies, too, if it’s expanding along with your belly.) If you’re positively itching everywhere, check in with your practitioner.

What to do about abdominal itchiness:

Tempting as it may be, don’t scratch, which only causes more irritation.
Moisturizer can temporarily curb the itching; apply a gentle one frequently and liberally.
An anti-itch lotion, like the pink calamine lotion your mom put on your chicken pox, works in particularly tough cases.
Vitamin E oil is very healing — great for sore nipples later on, too.
Soak in a gentle oatmeal bath with warm (not hot) water.
Using a humidifier may help keep your skin from drying out, but proceed with caution, as it can also spread germs and trigger allergies if used improperly. Follow the manufacturer's directions about keeping the machine s p i c and span, and don't run it round the clock.

If your body is swelling, it could be stretching and causing the itching in your feet and hands too.

dont worry I have had 3 children and am due in march for my 4th....it is a common symptom in pregnancy to feel itchy no matter what you do...its just generalized itching...I do buy Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath soak and use teeny bodies by Gerber in a jar to get some relief but believe me all 4 pregnancies I have had and currently have this issue. This can happen for no reason at all, and rarely has to do with stretching of skin since it can affect more than just the belly...I get it all over and it makes me crazy at times. I moisturized and told 3 physicians in the past plus my OBGYN all 4 times and they said the same thing. You are almost there so dont worry...I know in this month of pregnancy you see the OBGYN weekly and if there was an issue they would know.

It might just be that your skin is stretching. this is pretty common, but if it is really severe and persistent it could be an indication of a liver problem. My friend has this and the itching was how it showed itself. This is quite common aswell so I don't think you should worry, but if there was anything your midwife would test for it. I'd put my money on it being your skin stretching

I'm with the people who are saying it could be a liver problem, you should see a Dr as soon as you can. Liver conditions can cause problems for you and baby. Should be a simple blood test. I got itching with my last 2 but just on my feet and lower legs. I scratched so much I left scars on my feet. My liver function tests are abnormal for this baby at 27 weeks and im scratching all over.

It's not uncommon to feel itchy, particularly around your growing belly and breasts as your skin stretches to accommodate them. Hormonal changes may also be partly to blame.

Some pregnant women find that their palms and the soles of their feet get red and sometimes itchy. This common condition may be caused by an increase in estrogen. It usually disappears right after delivery.

You may also find that things that normally make you itchy — dry skin, eczema, food allergies — make you even itchier when you're pregnant.

I hope this is helpful.

Please see your midwife or GP. It is possible that you have a condition called cholestasis of pregnancy which is connected to the bile levels in the liver. It is not a great thing to have, and needs to be monitored. I had it with my second pregnancy and was induced at 38 weeks because of it.

I shall keep my fingers crossed for you, and hope it is not cholestasis, just a case of itchy, hormonal skin!

Good luck xx

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/wB37O
