Has anyone done something different to get pregnant with twins?

I have identical twins. Here's a few facts:

1. Identical twins are from one fertilized egg that splits. It's a random act of nature and every pregnancy has a 1 in 250 chance of this happening.

2. Fraternal twins are from two eggs that are both fertilized. Your chances of fraternal twins increases if the female has a family history of twins or if the female is on fertility drugs. Fraternal twins are also more common in African Americans (less common in Asians and Hispanics). Your chances of fraternal twins also increases with age (a woman over 45 has a 17% chance of twins). Also, the more pregnancies you have the greater the chances of twins.

3. Fertility drugs for the female are by prescription only and I've never heard of a doctor prescribing them for non medical reasons.

4. As someone with 10 month old twins I have no idea why anyone would purposely try to have twins. I love my girls and I know I'm lucky to have them but unless you have twins you have no idea how hard it is. There are more health risks (for you and for the babies), there is 3 times the work, double the costs for everything, and did I mention the work? :-)

no, i had twins so i know alot on the subject. it has to do with your eggs. if the mother has a hyper egg gene then two eggs are released and you get fraternal twins. if your egg just for some unknown reason splits after fertilization, you get identical twins. fertility treatments help because they actually implant two or more fertilized eggs into your uterus to see how many take.

i had them naturally and did nothing special, just good old regular sex with my husband.
