Often there's a slight buildup of fine soot which diminishes the oxygen mix to the flame of the pilot light which prevents the thermocouple from heating up enough to get the gas flowing when lighting. You might try lightly brushing around the hood of the pilot, and then using a compressed air can to blow out around the holes in the hood over the pilot light. Then try relighting the stove again.

The fire probably needs servicing by a qualified gas engineer, it might be the gas valve or the spark generator or maybe even the thermocouple that is at fault, but these are things you should not attempt to do yourself. You could remove all the fuel bed and hoover the fire off to start this may cure the problem as sometimes you get a buildup of soot or dust in the fire which stops them igniting.

There should be another little toggle switch somewhere under the logs. Down around the valve and ignitor switch.
