Is that funghi and contagious?

It is usually caused by a bruise in the nailbed, although a nail fungus may cause that. Toenails grow slowly, but if it continues to be black for a long time, and wasn't painted that color, it is probably a nail fungus.

Edit: Nail fungus is slightly contagious, although not as much so as athlete's foot, even though they are similar. Athlete's foot will make one more susceptible to nail fungus.

If it's black, it's probably just bruised. If it's yellow and thick, that's fungus. Not particularly contagious unless you're messing with their toes.

Mine was fungus. It fell off. It's not contagious. My husband's was a work injury. That nail fell off too.
