She left without paying her half-ends of the remaining 3 months. I personally think that you should at least pay something, especailly when she considers herself a "friend". One girl said that she took her ex-roomate to civil court just to get half of the light bill and 1/2 one month's rent. What do you think?

Friend or not, you should always put everything in writing. Even though your friend has moved out three moths in advance, she still has an obligation to pay those three months of rent and bills. Take her inconsiderate **** to court! Just as a responsible individual, ethics, etc... she shouldn't even need you to remind her of her obligations! Learn this lesson quickly, otherwise you will be paying for everyone's share in the future. If she was a friend in the first place, you wouldn't even be here asking these questions. If she can't suddenly pay her half of rent and bills because of her new place n bills...let her know that she made the agreement with you first and that she has to pay YOU FIRST!

If she signed the lease papers then she is oblighted to pay for the remainder of the lease, and that would hold up in court. But if you signed and she was just living there, you are up a creek. Why did she leave? And do you really want to risk your friendship over a few months of rent? Those are some things that you should really consider!

I would try telling her she needs to pay up and if she doesn't you will be taking her to Conciliation Court to make her pay and if you go that route she will also wind up paying all court costs and even what you had to pay to file.

You will win she will lose for sure. I own properties I am a landlord.
Trust me I know.

Good Luck

If she signed the lease, she's liable for her share of the rent. If she refuses to pay, take her to court.

no thats quite wrong. she should have at least given you warning and a chance to find someone else and in the mean time pay her end of it. the whole court thing might need to be done if you cant settle b/n yourselves

Is her name on the lease at all? If it is, get your money from her. She should at least have tried to get a sub-leaser
