Yes.
There is no sense in complicating a Marriage or making the wife feel insecure.
No place in a marriage for letters, Valentines...what ever...from previous Boyfriends or Girlfriends.
Marriage is difficult enough with out bringing in Old Baggage.

Well... it depends. Can you keep it a secret from the wife?
I don't think anyone HAS TO/SHOULD throw out old valentines/love letters from your ex-girlfriends or boyfriends (even if they know your spouses) AS LONG AS you keep them as mementos of your youth or of past loves and not as painful reminders of wanting to return to the past. If you have moved on successfully and your ex is nothing more than an acquaintance of your wife, then keep that old love letter for nostalgic purposes.
If not... well, you know the answer to that.
Oh, and if you should feel guilty about keeping it, ask for your wife's permission, being as open and honest about it as possible. We all like to have mementos from the past, after all.

No.. but it shouldn't be kept a secret either. I am of the opinion that your memories are yours... and only you can determine if they are important to you.
I would keep them, and my wife know that I keep mementos from earlier loves. That's what makes up my history. And though an earlier love is no longer in my life I still care for them and cherish what I have from our relationship. It was the history that brought me to the marriage I've had for the past 26 years.

Yes, throw it out if it makes the wife uncomfortable. There really is no reason to keep it. We keep things because they bring us pleasant memories of people and places gone before. The Valentine has overstayed its welcome.

No, these are his memories! You aren't the first, but you could definitely be the last in his life. Stop trying to control your husband, men have fond memories also, its healthy to keep these memories, it is unhealthy for someone to demand that they rid themselves of these memories. Was your first date with your husband? I doubt it, how would you feel if he demanded that you get rid of these momentos? There's your answer!

To me that will show his Total committment to
you, as anything or anyone in his past means
nothing if he is with you and is totally committed
to you.Love is a two way street and it should be
between the two that are married.
