Yes, it happens all the time. You are at a mature age. Of course you know that sometimes students have "crushes" on their teachers and if this is your first time, don't worry, it will pass. Don't take advantage of the situation because this is only an infatuation. Guide her . Don't be rude about it but at the same time, don't mistake it as "love" and don't encourage her to go beyond what is decent, Avoid situations in which you are left alone with he student. These are only kids, and they need guidance. When she grows up, she will be thankful to you for being the "wise" teacher that you were.

One of the essential elements of being a professional is to officially, in writing, report all such anomalies and concerns as soon as they occur. Always keep a copy. But, discuss this with your principle and brainstorm. Remember: CYA (cover your as*) as though you are going to have to be in court over this some day.

Yes! A few times I pretended not to hear what was going on, but learned that the situation was not getting better by avoiding it. I, then, decided to speak to the boy in private and explained that his behavior was making me feel very uncomfortable and that he needed to stop it immediately. I reminded him that I was his teacher and demanded being treated with respect. It worked for me. I hope it works for you!

It happen to me a long time ago, but I didn't say anything because i didn't feel the same for him .Later on i met a student who was four years younger than me and married him. but both of us were in the age to do it. I can notice that you are asking because you care for him, but maybe you can continue in touch until he is the right age to continue with the relationship. meanwhile you can be a close friend of his.

I would ignore it, but would also protect myself, and not put myself in potentially awkward situations...don't be alone, make sure if you have to be alone, then keep the doors open, and position yourself by the door, so that you can be seen.

are you at high school level or college?? Either way don't do anything. Your job could be in jeopardy.. Just let the crush fade away as often times crushes do.

Ignore it.
Share the situation with no one.
And most importantly, NEVER be alone with the person in question.
