Yes, make the pies the day before. If you are making pumpkin pie or some type of fruit pie, the pies can stay out (no frig) and will be fine.

You could probably make the dressing ahead of time, too. (that's if you aren't stuffing it in the turkey and are cooking it separately.)Then, re-heat it in the microwave or warm it up in the oven about 1/2 hour before dinner is ready.

If you are doing vegetables, like peas, corn, etc- and they are frozen, you can prepare them ahead as well. Re-heat in the microwave.

Then, you have time to prepare the turkey and get the table ready.

Take it easy and have fun. (I know it's easy for me to say, my husband is making the dinner. I am staying out of the kitchen. I will be cleaning while he's cooking).

Yes that does sound like a good idea. Doing this lets you focus on the main dishes and whan the food is done you probaly don't want to stay in the kicten all day so when you are done with the meal all you want to do is just take the dessert out cut then enjoy.

I do alot of cooking on holidays and I find it best to make most if not all a day or two ahead. That way you can enjoy the day. And cook your turkey slowly all day or over night so fresh but done earlier. People don't like waiting for desserts so do them ahead because they take hours to cook and cool. Most thigs taste better when they have time to soak over night for instance greenbean cassorole taste better with spices soaking in it as it becomes left over in fridge. Yummy....

I would do the pies first...that is what people look forward too and you don't want to burn anything if you need to actually use the oven.

Any thing that can go on stove top, like green beans...Get everything prepared in their cooking ware, place saran wrap on top and store in the frig. Just pull out in the morning and put in the oven..Cuts down on your prep time.

that sound like a smart ideal.

I think you could make most dishes the day before so just pick a few from whatever dishes you are planning on making.

Good thinking !
Other things you can make ahead of time are:
All cakes
Pudding pies
Devil eggs
Cornbread -( for stuffing)after cooking I mix all my ingredients up, and put it in a bowl in the ice box. then when its time to cook its all ready to go.
Cranberry salad
Any thing that is going to be served cold

All the deserts, the green bean casserole, can be made up the night before, the sweet potatoes.
