Courage means bravery, but bravery can mean many things, not just a lack of fear. Some people can be very brave even though they're afraid. Soldiers going into battle, a sick person facing a serious illness or operation, a parent with a sick child, all are brave in different ways. Many people can be courageous when faced with a situation where they have to - for example, saving someone from drowning, even though the person trying to save them is not a good swimmer, or rescuing a cat from a tree when you're afraid of heights. Courage can be displayed in many ways, and most people can be courageous if the situation requires it, even though they may never have believed themselves capable of courage.
