I was working the graveyard shift at a nursing home, just getting off work, passed a patient's room and saw it on tv, stopped to see what it was, then drove home in shock. I still can't believe what a tragic waste of life it was, I will never understand why anyone would kill innocent people, especially children, just to prove something.

My husband and I had gone out of town for the night , we were in a motel when I turned on GMA and saw the reactions from the beginning. I was a kid in 1940 when war came to my door in Europe and I felt like I was 8 all over again. I was petrified that WW3 had started. Went for coffee to Mc Donald and someone said that DC had been hit and my knees were shaking. I could not wait to go home and check out the kids and grandkids and hug them.
I started to plot a vegetable garden as I was sure we would be at war and we would need food in the garden. Some things you never forget, I never forget May 10 1940 and Sept 11 will stay with me too.

At home, I walked in the house and the TV was on, Good Morning America. They were talking about the first plane hitting, and suddenly the second one hit, and everyone gasped. Gibson said, "This now seems to be a concerted attack against the United States."

Over here in the UK I was at school at the time when the first plane hit but when i came home i went up to my room and turned the TV on like i normally do and i was very shocked to see one of the towers left standing on fire(the first tower had already collapsed).
God bless you Americans and all who died on that unfaithful day

on my way to work, and like a lot of people, a little shocked and stunned. but even more so now because we refuse to solve the problem overseas by being what we are..... the superpower and the policeman of the world. We don't need to apologize or dumb down for being the strongest most prosperous nation on the planet.

I was asleep, then I woke up to a phone call. The person told me to cut on the news. I just sat there, stunned for about 10 minutes.

In the college library, about 4-5 blocks from the WTCs.
Not surprising, we were terrified, confused, and shocked.

i was going to high school, i sat at a bench out side my school waiting for class smoking a cigerett. My school was only 4 blocks away from the world trade center and then i heard and saw both planes hit the twin towers. From that moment it made ME join the U.S MARINE CORP RIGHT AFTER I GRADUATED HS.,

I was caring for a stroke victim, we were both stunned. I watched her closely that whole week or so, she did fine, but then she'd lived through the 'depression' and WW2. I would have to say that day has successfully undermined my unfounded confidence in my country.
