30GB can hold about 7500 songs. So 1GB i sufficient about for 7500/30 which is about 250 songs.

Around 250 songs. But it depends on how long each song is.

I burn 187 good songs on one cd which is 700mb

when they say more they are talking about short songs/ low quality

Usually it's 1MB/minute. So, considering approx. 3min/song, you have around 300 songs.
