Hey Bert,
Like all things there must be opposites. On, off. In, Out. Good, Bad. Both sides of each extreme. Binary, Yes,no; True; False
I think you would not recognize the reward of Heaven (metaphorically), without the concept of Hell.

If you look at the "yin/yang" sign, you will see that there are two halves, different colors, and each half has a circle inside of it with the opposite color. What that connotes to me is that everything is made up of itself and its diametrical opposite. Taking that a further step, God cannot exist without Satan's existence taken for granted and heaven cannot exist without hell's existence.
Nothing can exist without the existence of its diametrical opposite.
Take that one step further, you will cometo the conclusion that Heaven and Hell, and God and Satan, were created in one fell swoop whether all was created by the mind of man or whether it was created by the big bang.

There is only the perception perpetuated by the catholic faith to create fear for control of the finances of the sheeple that attend. The Truth is very different. By being impeccable in your be-ing you are able to delete certain aspects of this illusion called life. You will find out soon enough, fear not you have assistance IF you ask for it. Ask from your heart and you will feel / hear the answer.

Heaven is being close to the light .
Hell is being far from the light.
Heaven is being close to perfection.
Hell is being far from perfection.
If we are sincerely generous or kind or if we are in love, we feel in heaven in an instant.
If we are cruel or unkind or full of hatred we feel in hell - in case we do not shut out our conscious- .

heaven is first, hell is second, heaven is the only way you want to go, so if you are seriously near the end, then you need to seek Jesus , it is either one way or the other, no other options available. but you can ask Jesus in your heart and seek Him for He is near to you, and loves you dearly, even if you dont Know Him yet.

Speaking in life terms, yes. In order to know whats ''good'' you have to experience ''bad'' and in literal terms, my opinion is no. The people on this earth that do things that society says they should burn in hell for, might have something mentally wrong with them that only God is aware of....(or another excuse that only He is aware of) so everyone ''Hell worthy'' has a reason and God loves us too much to send us to such a place so does it even exist?

There is no hell or satan. Human beings invented them to keep the subjugated in line. Heaven, on the other hand, is all around us if we're willing to see it.
