I think that women are sometimes attracted to older men because of some weird father figure issues. I hope that doesn't sound twisted. I think that women want mature men and this professor of yours may encompass what you want in a mate. This will pass, I was attracted to a coworker of mine who could be my father and I have come to just respect him as a person and a friend.

Your professor , cool , mine was my band teacher..... so easy to do .... they seem to know all the answers , and they are so well respected , bet he or she is very good looking as well . If you are having to many daydreams about this person maybe you should transfer out of his class , or try finding someone your own age....Or find out about this professor , maybe already taken and then you can move on.....

i know how you feel. I was "in love" with a man who was older and he said he loved me. turned out, he was married and once i found that out he dropped all forms of contact with me. Older men are jerks and i think you like him just because you know he knows a lot (relationship-wise and life-wise).you think he would know how to take care of you. but reality is no. i dont know how old you are but you are practically two decades apart which means you two think differently as well. you have different morals and want different things in life. your crush will soon pass.
just think about everything you dislike about him ( all the bad things) his flaws.

We are all attracted to different people of different ages, races, sex, and religions... it's our heart that determines our feelings. However, if he's that much older then you and you don't want to have the feelings then you need to occupy yourself around friends and guys your own age.

Admiration can feel alot like a crush
Try to view it as such, and avoid going after him
If anything went on between you, it could be very damaging to your reputation, and future, as well as to his career.

he has some good qualities that you admire in a man, and would like to see in your future mate.
that does not mean that you are in love with this guy or that he is the one for you, it simply means that he is admirable.
take it for what it is worth, and have a crush, that doesn't mean anything, we have all had them.
