The mentor is often seen as someone wise, sophisticated and yes, sexy, in an unachievable sort of way. This sort of infatuation usually goes away with time or ... if he/she should ask you out on a date. That would pretty much be the end of it as you would see that close up, he/she is just ... well, old. Tired, set in his/her ways and stuffy. Someone almost like your mother or father. And that's not sexy, is it?

it's a good thing you recognize that it's wrong (or you wouldn't be asking us here). That big an age is dangerous because they know a lot more than you do...and you could be infatuated by maybe the way they look, dress, or because they are educated, know more than you, the way they talk, or even because of the fact that they are making money or because of their nice car....but, it's wrong and can lead you down the wrong path, can get you into trouble for sure. So change classes if you have to, seems your hormones are just kicking in, and realize that fact.

Don't let this feeling go too far, what you are experiencing is a strong case of admiration. He is probably nice looking, well spoken, intelligent and all the things a girl wants. Slow down, put this in the right place, show your maturity. Age is not important, only a series of numbers not the state of ones mind. But girlfriend, you have just began, he is halfway finished. Get your education and career in place, before you let your heart rule your head and ruin your life....

Wow! Do not sleep with him and try dating other people at school, someone in my family was a professor and he slept with his students and tossed them we he was done, and he was married, so don't do it. With someone that has a 19 year old age difference the most common thing an older man is looking at is sex. Have fun you are young and date some people at your school.

My dear, Freud explains!
Try to use a single trick with your mind: every time you see him (or think in this old guy) imagine your professor with dirty underwears and a great diarrhea.
This is not nothing romantic and will be able to function...
