Actually she is a convicted pedophile. If she were a male teacher and the student a girl, would you say he wasn't a pedophile? It doesn't matter if he acted older, she knew how old he was and that she was too old to be having sexual relations with him.

A paedophile is someone who has a sexual interest in children, assisting a paedophile is a terrible thing, but it is not the same as *being* a paedophile.
there have been a lot of cases of female teachers being prosecuted for having sex with their pupils, however - the physical fact of penetration - means that it is very difficult to find a woman paedophile who is attracted to young male children

Yes - there are several cases of women working in a Children's home and abusing kids. There are many cases of a woman assisting a male paedophile (The Moors murderers, Maxine Carr, Rose West etc.)
It's less common for a woman to abuse children and it's harder for a woman to force a young male into penetrative sex against his will for obvious reasons.

Roughly 3 to 5 % of reported sexual molestations of children involve female offenders. They may or may not be pedophiles. Pedophilia is a psychological diagnosis. Even with male offenders, very few of them fall under the label pedophilia.

Mary Kay LeTourneau wasn't a paedophile. She was a teacher who had an affair with one of her students who was underage (about 14 I beleive). This lad was very mature for his age and was a "willing participant" in everything they did! In fact he instigated their first encounter. However, as he was underage and she was a teacher and people were pretty horrified about the whole thing she ended up being convicted as a "sex offender" and sent to jail.
Its not as if she deliberately went round preying on helpless six year olds as most of the disgusting male paedos do!
She had consensual sex with a teenage lad who was underage. Doesn't make her a paedo.

Mary Kay LeTourneau huh? What a mug. She is taken in by boy who look and acts older. Then when the crap hits the fan, he decides to cry in his milk and act like his rear has been continuously pumped...give the wee bairn an Oscar! Is this not the 'grey area' which we're not too sure on how to act? However, if they both had any sense, they would have performed their kiss & cuddles well away from school.

First, distinguish between pedophole and child molester.
A pedophile thinks children are sexually attractive. That's it. Someone can be a pedophile and never touch a child, never look at child pornography, and never do anything but fantasize. And regardless of whether we might think that's sick, just fantasizing in your head is not illegal.
Males and females can both be pedophiles. But being a pedophile is not illegal. Child molestation and child pornography are illegal. And there have been prosecutions of both males and females, including some famous ones, for both of these crimes.

There are women pedophiles and women who assist male pedophiles. They are not prosecuted to the extent men are.
