My ex and I are legally divorced. There is an order for him to pay child support for our son. He has always paid it, and is happy to. After being divorced for some time, we decided to get back together and try to make it work. He put a brand new (and much better!) ring on my finger, and we will be getting married sometime next year. The very annoying factor of all of this, is that every month he has to mail off his child support payment to the Kansas Payment Center, and then they mail it back to me.... at the same house he mailed it from!!! In Kansas, child support payments MUST be made through the payment center. Now that we are back together all of our money is joint again and we pay all the bills as a family. It is kind of a strain for us to mail off $630 every month and then have to wait a week and a half for it to come back. And on top of that, they keep a $10 fee. It's only ten dollars.... but why would we want to give it away? What can I do to stop the support order?

you should get a lawyer to file with the court a petition to stop child support due to the fact that you are living together and plan to get married again, it should not be that expensive $150-$250.
and would be well worth the time.

The reason why is that the courts have to see the check. You can't avoids this because there are too many dead-beats out there who take advantage of the situation.

When I worked in the courthouse, I would see hand-written reciepts for alimony being filed. My co-workers and I would debate whether or not the money was actually given, or if given wasn't returned right away by means of force.

Thankfully, most states are cracking down on this by making the payments be turned in to the state. Of course, what happens to the state's check once they send it out is another story.
