Could they? Yes, they could. But if their parents married eachother that would just TOTALLY ruin Tom and Jane's life. OMG what a mess that would be.

You can not marry with blood siblings, (same father and mother), half siblings ( same father different mothers or same mother different fathers) but you can marry step siblings because they are not related by blood.
A man may not marry his:
1 Mother
2 Daughter
3 Grandmother
5 Granddaughter
7 Sister
8 Half Sister
9 Aunt
10 Half Aunt
11 Niece
12 Half Niece
A woman may not marry her:
1 Father
2 Son
3 Grandfather
5 Grandson
7 Brother
8Half Brother
9 Uncle
10 Half Uncle
11 Nephew
12 Half Nephew
Marriage between unrelated adopted brothers and sisters (i.e. adopted by the same adoptive parents) is allowed.

Since you are not blood relatives likely. But if you have lived as brother & sister over a time, best to check the state law where you live. I truly believe this would turn into a difficult relationship that could ruin the friendship you now have. Think long & hard.

I think the argument against brothers and sisters getting married and having kids is because it's incest and their kids might have genetic problems. In the situation you mentioned, Jane and Tom aren't biological brother and sister, their step-brother and step-sister. So, odd as it would be, I don't think there're reasons to stop it from happening.

Yes, legally you can get married. There's no blood relation to the marriages, so "Tom's" father would be your step-father. Even though you two would be considered step-siblings, it's not morally wrong nor is it considered incest.

Legally you can get married. How long has you parents been together? If you 2 grew up together that would just morally incorrect. But maybe if everything is just recent and fresh well maybe that is a different matter.

Parents may be married, but apparantly the children arent actually blood brother and sister. However, your interest in each other is probably more like brother and sister, then lovers....
Then again..........hmmm???
