Oh wow, good luck! I remember when I had mine, it was soooo exciting. They basically do all their measurement checks which take the most of the time, they're just looking that everything is growing as it should be. Depending on your hospital, you may have the Downs Syndrome test, where they measure the thickness of the fluid in the back of the babies neck, and then they assess your chances of having a Down's baby...which obviously if you're young, will be very slight. Then you'll get a chance to see the baby, they'll show you through it's head, heart, limbs etc...although I got lost and couldn't really see what was what...but my partner could at least lol. You'll also get a couple of photo's, which for me was definitely the best part!
I think the 20 week scan is the best ever...the baby has developed so much more since 12 weeks, and everything is so much clearer.
Good luck!

You'll see your baby for the first time!! They will measure all it's limbs, check it's heartbeat, check all the vital organs and generally ensure everything is as it should be and that your baby is developing properly. You might have to drink lots of water which can be a bit uncomfortable but at twelve weeks it might not be necessary as the baby is bigger. Depending upon where you live (all areas have different rules) they might tel you the sex of the baby should you want to know. Other than that for a donation you can have a couple of pictures too. Enjoy, it's a great experience!!! x x x x

developmental timeline week by week. Awesome.
How your baby's growing: Your baby's hit the 2-inch mark (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce. Her face is beginning to look more human. Her eyes, which started out on the sides of her head, have moved closer together on her face, and her ears are near their final positions on the sides of her head. Your baby's intestines, which have grown so rapidly that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into her abdominal cavity about now. Her kidneys are secreting urine into her bladder. Her nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly, and synapses (neurological pathways in the brain) are forming. Your baby may have acquired more reflexes by now, including sucking, and she'll even squirm if you prod your abdomen, though you still won't be able to feel her movement for several weeks.

It's nothing to be scared about, you don't even have to get undressed. you lay on a couch, pull you top up to under your bra, pull your leggings down so far, and they put some conductive gel on your tummy, and go over it with the scanner. You will see outlines of the baby on the screen, you can see it's little legs, hands, arms, feet and head. You will even see it's little heart beating if it's aid in the right position. It's a lovely feeling, and you will even get a print of the baby's picture. Good Luck, and Have Fun.

Here in Scotland it was a whole day of 'Booking in' where you got weighed, bloods taken and a lot of family history questions and so on.
But the actaul Scan didn't take that long, it was a wee dark room with a chair for the Scanner woman and one for my hubby and a bed for me to lie on. She smeaered cold KY Jelly on ma Belly then we to work with the machine. We seen a great pic! She then took all the mesurments to make sure baby was fine, and to work out our exact date (done by the size of babies head) then took a coupl of stills for us to take home.
It was an amazing day, the day it hit us that this was really happening! I don't know about you but I wasn't even showing and couldn't beleive this thing was inside me!
Enjoy it and if you have any questions ask them, they have heard it all before!
And drink pleanty of water as a full bladder makes a better pic!

hey don't stress 2 much bout it. enjoy coz u will see ur baby 4 da 1st time, if u got any ques just ask them when u get there?
some people normally ask is the size of the baby ok, from what the scan is showing does the baby look ok? how far u r exactly coz it can change depending on the size of ur baby i.e if the baby is a bit bigger they may put ur due date slightly forward.
enjoy every moment of it

Oh congrats....You will see a little one. It will not have really long arms or defined features. You will see your baby moving and they will check how many weeks they think you are. It will be nice as you will see your little one for the first time. You will see more on your next scan but it still is lovely. Enjoy every minute it's great.x

I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks, and all that happened for me was I layed down, we put the gooy stuff on, then saw the baby. We listened to the heartbeat also. She took a pic and that was it, the because the baby is still too small for anything else.

You will see an image of what is inside your uterus. What do you want to see there? A baby or nothing? Are you happy to be pregnant or are you not wanting to be pregnant? If there is a baby there than what? Thank you for the 2 points.
