What is the origami time machine?

An origami time machine appears in an episode of The Venture Bros. and is a repeating theme in the last few issues of the Grant Morrison series, The Invisibles. Is it a reference to computational origami? To information theorists? Why am I remembering that it's associated with frogs?

Is it an origami of a tadpole that converts into the origami of a frog...? That would be a sort of origami 'time machine'.
