If this is your first glucose test, it will probably take an hour. If it's your second, it will probably take three hours.
I refused genetic testing when I was pregnant, so I don't know how long the down syndrome test takes.

The glucose test takes a little over an hour. The will have you Drink something sugary (mine tasted a bit like kids cough medicine) wait about an hour and then test your blood. The results should get to your Dr. within a couple of days if not sooner. Don't know about the downs test, didn't want to do that one, didn't make a difference to me. Are you on the advice of your dr. simply because they are done routinely, or do you have reason to believe your risk is elevated? Some of those tests can cause complications themselves (like miscarriages!) and many are not very accurate anyways. I had an older friend (37) who was advised to, did, and then found out after being told that her results were positive that the actual statistics were that she had a 1% chance. 1% after they scared her to death by saying the results were positive! Just be informed and careful!! : )

Well the glucose test you drink a lil thing of syrup that tastes like flat soda and you have to drink it in 5 minutes, then an hour later they draw your blood. It goes by fast if someone goes with you or you take a book to read. They will probably take your other blood before your drink the soda stuff.

The glucose test takes just over an hour. When you go in they take your blood to check your blood sugar levels then after you drink the glucose drink and wait around for an hour (get a magazine!!) then they take more blood to test them again.

Not to worry you, but the GTT is pretty miserable! The actual sugar drink they give you isn't that bad, but your reaction to it might be. I felt fine until about 20 minutes into the test. Then I felt clammy and dizzy. They made me lay down with a cold rag on my neck so I wouldn't throw up. I didn't have a problem with nausea before then, nor did I after it was over. It was just the sugar on an empty stomach that made me ill! If you throw up before they get your results, you have to start the test all over again! Luckily I didn't yack, but I sure felt like it! The test takes at least an hour so be ready with something to read or do. They give you the syrup to drink, then you sit there for 45 minutes before they take your blood. You have to have an empty stomach so don't eat past midnight tonight. You can drink water in the morning before the test, but nothing during the test. You might have no reaction at all to it, not like mine! But don't hesitate to ask for a bed if you feel faint during the test! You don't want to have to start over! Good Luck!

The glucose test is an hour long. You have to drink the juice they give you then you have to sit around for an hour then have your blood drawn.
I didn't do the triple screen but it's just a blood draw, but I don't know how long before the test takes to get back.

Congratulations! The glucose test takes one hour. The soda syrup is very sweet. And when I had my genetic testing done, it took 3 days for the results to come back from the lab. Congrats again and be well.

The glucose test is an hour and a half, because you have to drink the soda, wait and hour and then they draw your blood. The down syndrome one, I don't remember how long that one takes. Good Luck!
