I have to make an overhead (when notes are projected on the wall) for my class and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good font size where everyone can read it. I dont' want it to be too small! Thanks!

It depends on the size of your classroom and how close your overhead projector is to the screen. I have projected some transparencies with fonts as small as 12 that were easily visible because I pulled the projector away and focused it well. I rarely use a font larger than 36, but maybe I'm just lucky in my particular circumstances. Here's a suggestion: Make a practice transparency, typing in different font sizes, and then sit in the back row of the classroom to test visibility.

I was told a long time ago that it should be readable from the back of the room by someone with 20/40 vision.

For reference, the default text font size in PowerPoint is 32 (using Arial font).

My husband, who is reading over my shoulder right now, says the minimum font is size 18, preferably 24.

I often use 72 and there are NO problems. However, you can usually fit only 1-2 words per line. If I have more lines that I need to type then I will sometimes use anything in the 50's. Some kids in the back may not be able to see it all that well, but most will be able to see it without a problem.
