Yes, it's thought by some to be medicinal. You don't need to find a plant, you can plant yarrow from seed and it's really easy. Call around to local nurseries to see if they have the seed packets in stock in the "perenial" section. Once established, it will last for a long time, certainly more than one season. The flowers look a lot like Queen Anne's Lace, but can be more colorful.
I shouldn't think that you will have any trouble raising this plant in the garden or in a container in FL. It can get pretty big. Some treat this plant like a weed. You can cut it back and it will reflower at least once during the flowering season.
