I pose this question because the US Constituion says nothing about 'democracy'. Also, the famous words of Ben Franklin, "above all a republic" still ring in our ears today.

Article 4 Section 4 of the US Constitution states: The United States shall guarantee to every State in the Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

A republican form of government refers to government by representatives. We are often referred to as a democratic republic because we elect representatives though a democratic process. In a true democracy, they are no representatives, every action of government is voted on by the people.

The US constitution states that the USA is supposed to be a republic. The founding fathers knew how easily a democracy could be abused and let a despot into power.

Thomas Jefferson said "A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."

The voting system is based on democracy, but the administration should not be.

Dear God, how deep does this coma go, will the American people ever wake up again?

You have no Constitution, you have no Bill Of Rights, Democracy is dead. You are officially in a police state. I'll repeat, you are living in a police state. One more false flag operation is all it'll take for you to understand this statement, WAKE UP!!

it has continuously been a republic since its founding.

It became a democratic republic around 1919-1920, when a majority of its people could for the first time vote.

In THEORY, the USA is a Democractic Republic with a Constitution. In PRACTICE, it is a Plutocracy.... a government for the rich and powerful, and by the rich and powerful who control its elected officials for their own enrichment.
