I'm writing a paper on the quote "The world can be a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but those who look on and do nothing." So far, does my paper sound right? Constructive critism is appreciated.
When Albert Einstein remarked "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing," he was absolutley right. As Einstein said, the world can be such an dangerous place. On-lookers of evil are the last things we need.
Racism. While you may not consider this topic to be evil, it is still wrong. Any time someone allows a racist joke or comment to go unchallenged, they are becoming a part of the problem, not the solution. Condoning racial remarks places you just as much in the wrong as who ever made the crude, vicious ramarks. Instead of making a laughing stock of the opposite race, why not be a part of the resolution and call out the illogical one on their belittling joke.

What grade would you think I was in by the way I wrote the paragraph?

these are just some ideas and I've done my own take on the paragraph.

" The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing," Albert Einstein critically accesses our world in this statement. This also shows us how the world still hasn't changed because throughout history this statement has applied.

Now state your argument. Use actual events in history which illustrate this point. Hitler, racism - go deeper than just jokes and racial slurs, rather do research eg South African and American racism. These are apt instances of people playing dumb and witnessing horrors.

hope this gets you somewhere!

This quote is similar to a much earlier one made by one of our founding fathers: "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." I don't remember who said that (or something like it) but what it means is evil must be challenged and fought, not passively tolerated or ignored, if we do not wish to suffer the consequences.

The truth of these statements has been demonstrated time and again throughout history and in various societies. Racism is a good example, as is genocide (now occurring in Africa), slavery, organized crime, and a host of others great and small. If we all just stand by and tolerate these things, then their evil will indeed triumph. It is easy to say, "That's not my problem!" and ignore the evils of everyday life. If every good person does this, evil prevails.

This is quite good. I would make it better by leaving out "Racism." I would not begin that paragraph that way, and it sounds better if you just leave it out. Also, it's more appropriate to say something like, "While one..." rather than "While you..." Other than that this promises to be a very good paper!
