I've been drinking G.T.'s Ginger Ade flavored Kombucha (which is what I thinking your talking about) and I really like it. Got it at Henry's market (organic food store). Could be just mental, but I feel as though it does give me just the right amount of energy. Use to drink Monster but that made me crazy. I also feel as though the Kombucha drink does have detoxifying/cleaning properties. Does taste a bit like vinegar so if you can get over that you'll be ok. I rather drink my Kombucha in the morning than coffee or the Monster.

Kombucha?

Kombucha is an ancient food originating in Asia. With the growing interest in Eastern healing methods, Kombucha travelled via Russia into Western Europe. In those countries, Kombucha was regarded as a delicious healthy beverage and part of a balanced diet. On its way to the western world, this beverage has, in many cases appeared to have performed miracles. Hence names, such as magical fungus, miracle fungus, gout jelly have been given to Kombucha because of its successful results in the treatment of modern illnesses. While Kombucha was already a popular healing remedy in the twenties and thirties in Russia, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Austria, the fermented beverage almost became extinct in the post war years of World War II. The reasons for this were twofold, people had to grow their own vegetables due to food shortages resulting in a more healthy and nutritious diet, and also sugar was in short supply.

In the sixties and seventies, when the standard of living improved, Kombucha became known again as a "miracle beverage", as mentioned in many newspaper articles.

In our society, where we have an abundance of food, which is sterilised, homogenised or preserved, a microbiological food such as Kombucha, which aids digestion, can work wonders.

I have the recipe for it though I haven't made any yet. Supposed to be even better than live yogurt cultures. I'm probably going to order a starter pretty soon. You can find out how to brew it for free on the internet. The starter culture is inexpensive unless you know someone who's already brewing it, then it's free.

We used to take it in our familly when i was little. It tastes discusting, and it looks horrible in your fridge (although these days i beleive that you can buy "ready made" ones) but i have to admit that (though i do not take it as an adult) it had a positive effect for everyone.

Do it of you have a strong stomache lol x
