I've seen many pet owners dye their dogs hair ( like poodles )
for the holidays- Green and red!
Do they use chemical dyes? is that safe?
Or like a food coloring dye?
Does a Groomer do it?

It's safe, as long as you don't use chemical dyes meant for humans.
My friend used to dye her Westie orange for halloween. She used kool-aid, and used a hairdryer to set it. It stayed for a couple of washes, and looked pretty cool.
I have a white dog, too, but I could never imagine dying her a different color. Imagine a purple husky walking around! :)

I think it is crazy to dye your dogs hair. If people love there dogs so much then why do they want to dye them? Dogs are not accessories, and they are not toys! I would never want my dog any color other than the color it was born!

They use a vegatable based color. The hair would have to be light to stain it. It won't harm the dog, but I wouldn't do it. It will be hard to get that color out, it will have to grow and be cut off. Buy your pup a nice Christmas scarf or little Santa hat.

I don't see why it is dangerous, but I would look into somebody like a groomer to do it, not by yourself.

I don't know how they do that or why and i'm sure a groomer does do it but I wouldn't suggest doing it your self.

I believe it's a food coloring type dye.

Either way, I wouldn't recommend it.
