IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.
My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

No advise to give just wanted to say good luck, I too have PCOS and am currently on Metformin. I hope the IVF goes well as I know how frustrating it can be waiting between different stages for treatment.

Thatmadlass - what a nasty answer. If you have children then good for you. You'll never know the agony of this lady's situation. Although you have the right to post whatever you want comments like yours are NOTcalled for. It really does my head in when people treat having children with such a flippant attitude. It can cause depression and absolute heartbreak. You wouldn't treat someone with an illness with such contempt and not being able to have a child can cause just as much worry and tears. I know, I've been through the death of my father to cancer and finding out that my husband an i can't have children and ensuing ivf treatment. The agony you feel isn't as far apart between the two as you might presume.
As for the lady who asked the question. My heart goes out to you. Just try and be as casual as you can about the treatment and don't get too wound up about it. I know that's easy to say but try and treat it as an interesting journey rather than an ordeal. Good luck.

I have pcos to and am awaiting to start treatment. I am quite a way of the ivf route but all I would say is try and remain strong and do not build your hopes up to much. I know that is hard, but if you are sceptical and you end up getting preg you will be over the moon, but if you are convinced you are preg and get a negative result it is devestating.
Good luck

hey, I have pcos, and going to the hospital in my country is a waste of my time, I have to go to a private gyno, yes you can start treatments even if you don't have a period. I am 19 and had pcos from much younger, I just got diagnois with the disease in April of this year, due to ttc for a year. this is what you'll have to expect when getting a treatment. 1. your Dr would take a blood test or a virgina ultrsound to see how severe your pcos is. With the u/s they are looking to see how much cycts are located on the ovaries and to see if its a normal size, its also checking your uterus linning, also they might give you a pap smear, remember it is always good for a ladies exspecailly with pcos to get a pap smear because we are high risk with cervical cancer due to lack of periods. The blood test determains your hormones level 2. Then they ask you about your family history and about your menstral cycles. 3 After all this is done he then would perscibe a pill call provera to take, I took mines for 5 days some takes theirs for 10, in a week the latest you should expect a period. 4. most dr.'s perscribe a pill call clomid for you if you are ttc, and some does metformin. I did clomid but it only made my ovaries infected (they were larger then normal). 5. If you didn't ovulate on clomid they would upper the dose, but you are only allowed to take clomid or 6 months, you are suppose to see results with in 3months. I hope this help you, remember try eatin healthy, if you are overweight try losing a few lbs would be good also. Baby dust to you

The underlying cause of PCOS is insulin resistance. The best treatment for PCOS is a low carb diet, combined with exercise and adding an insulin sensitizing drug, such as metformin. This combined with fertility treatments should be able to get you pg. I highly recommend visiting http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhpcos?redirCnt=1. It's a great message board where you can ask all your PCOS questions or just vent about how you're feeling. ttc can be very frustrating...but in the end..so worth it. Good luck.

After IVF treatment, I am now the proud mom of boy/girl twins. I know it is so hard to wait and wonder and assisted reproduction treatments are exhausting. For now, just try to enjoy the time you and your spouse have together. Go out to dinner, go to the movies, and do your very best to relax. Try and do all of the things it will be difficult to do when you have children. Lastly, try and stay positive - if you want children in your life, one way or another you will have children in your life. Take IVF step by step and try not to get too caught up in it. Picture success and have faith.
Best of luck to you.

i have PCOS did your doctor tell you that you were not going to be able to conceive naturally? i was lucky and had twins after being told i would not be able to get pregnant without IVF, however with a few lifestyle changes i did not need IVF. my best advice is try and get as healthy as possible first, which might mean a few diet and exercise habit changes. that is what i did. might not work for everyone but can't hurt either. GOOD LUCK

Sure do hun, Dont become obsessed with having a baby. Sounds silly I know. But the more you worry, the more your body will not accomodate a baby. Also your partner does not want to be pushed out, and be made to feel like he is a baby making machine.
I thought the film maybe baby put every thing into context made me laugh too.
Just be strong and live life to the full and if you can forget about having a baby. I have known several people who have conceived when they least expected too. Take care
