Well I can understand why you paused, it would take a very big breath to get all the famous names out.

for a start, the Oxford and Cambrige universities have produced more nobel Prizes than all the other countries of the world combined.

England has produced some of the best and most original minds in history. It is remarkable that a country as small as England has produced so many famous sons and daughters in every field of endeavour from Art to Science. but to name a few..

William Shakespeare
Charles Dickens
Sir Isaac Newton
Winston Churchill
Capability Brown
Dick Whittington
Laurie Lee
Robert Raikes
Edith Cavell
Joseph Whitworth
Lewis Carroll
Mary Shelley
the Beatles
Rolling Stones
Horatio Nelson
David Beckham
Cary Grant
Michael Caine
Edward Elgar
William Mallord Turner
Henry Moore
Allan Turrin
Henry Tudor, King
Charles Darwin
Sir John Guilgood
Alfred the Great
Bobby Charlton
Ernest Shackleton

uh, no. I never think of Bruce Lee at all, if I can avoid it; I certainly don't think of him when I think of China. Nor do I think of Pele when I think of Brazil.
