I took my dog to a new vet, and after visiting with him i feel that he nolonger is able to fulfill his responsibilities of his job. The vet was new to me. He is an old man, working in a so called ER, he works with alone @ night. I took my dog to him after she was attacked my 2 pits, she was loosing a lot of blood. i tok her in and ret her on a table, he let her bleed out for over 30 min before even looking at her. I showed him cash, but he did not do anything. I filled out all the paper work, so he would work on her. He didnt do anything untill i got in is face and told him if he didnt start doing something he wouldint like what i was going to do to him. I would have never got like that if he would have started his job as soon as i set her on the table. my dog even jumped off the table while i was filling out the paperwork, because no one was with her. she had lost a lot of blood, and it was just running out, and he didnt do any thing, and i had money. now she is at another vet

Everyone is always on the band wagon to blame the Vet when in alot of circumstances it isn't the vets fault.

First of all you say that your dog was bleeding badly, from where? Was it a puncture wound or a slash? and if your dog was bleeding so badly why didn't YOU put something like a towel on your dog and tie it up so that it wasn't running around. Alot of times wounds look worse than they really are. Esp a head wound.

Owners of pets usually over react to situations when their pets are hurt and it's the Vet and staff that has to weed thru this and determine if the dog's life is in a critical situation. And by the sounds of what you yourself have said, it wasn't. You also stated that no one was with her, YOU were. Yes you were filling out paperwork, but did you bring her in on a leash? or request one?

Getting in the Vet's face was extremely inappropiate, and the fact you had money doesn't make a difference to the fact if the dog is critical or not and if there are other life threatning situations that the Vet is dealing with in back. You only SEE so much when you walk into a Vet or ER. Most ER Dr's do work alone at night after a certain hour. It's only if they get alot of cases in a night will they call in another Dr, but they have enough staff on duty that usually that isn't needed.

Judging the vet by his age is 1-discrimination and not a fair basis to have or even put in a complaint to have his license revoked or put on suspension. How many people drive in the United States that need to have this done!!!

You say that your dog is now at another Vet's office and she is bad off, you still haven't stated what the wound was and what she is bad off from. So maybe we need more info and maybe you need to take a step back and really look at the situation and make a true decision as to who was really at fault BEFORE you change a persons only income for the rest of their life. How would you feel if this was done to you?

Good luck

If the vet is that bad, he will put himself out of business. I would be careful about messing with someone's livelihood by trying to get their license revoked. If he was working alone he is going to have to have the paperwork filled out before he starts work on the dog. Also, some need to make sure they are going to get paid before they start work on a dog. You wouldn't want to do a job then never get paid. Your dog is close to you so your emotions will also be a little overboard, which from your statements sounds like you were going a little frantic.

You could file a complaint and warn friends not to go there based on your experience. Just before you go too gung ho try to put yourself in his position and try looking at it from his perspective. How would you like someone that is a little over emotional because their dog is hurt making it so you lost your job and source of income? He could be a good vet and that is just one circumstance he handled badly. Is that a reason enough to make him lose his job, his income, and do away with everything he spent 8 years in college to try learning?

Like I said, if he is that bad he will put himself out of business due to a bad reputation.

Were there other patients? If other animals were there and more injured/sick than yours, they may have gotten priority.
Your doggie was healthy enough to jump off the table even though she was very injured, she may not have been as close to death as some of the other patients.
BUT
She should have been better supervised.
You can contact the Veterinary Medical Board in your state. Call and ask about making a report. They can help you out.

I wish I knew. Our vet let my last cat's cancer go undetected until it was too late and we had to put him to sleep. I took him in numerous times for the issue, but she failed to check thoroughly enough to see what the problem really was.

Some people shouldn't be in the job that they are in, but nobody will do anything about them.
