Triangle (3 kinds), quadrilateral (several kinds), pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon. The kinds of triangles are scalene (unequal sides), isosceles (two equal sides), and equilateral (all equal sides). A right triangle (one 90 degree angle) can be scalene or isoceles. The kinds of quadrilaterals depend on both side length and parallelism. All four-sided figures are quadrilaterals. One with one pair of parallel sides is a trapezoid or trapezium. (A trapezoid with the non-parallel sides equal in length is a "regular" or isoceles trapezoid.) One with two pairs of parallel sides is a parallelogram. One with four right angles is a rectangle, and a rectangle with all four sides equal is a square. A parallelogram with four equal sides is a rhombus. Two other shapes are sometimes mentioned: the kite and the chevron.
