Maybe thats all they could afford...my grandma did that to me one year when i was 15 she bought everyone else these cool gameboys including my sister and she was only 11 and she got me this huge 10 doller general doll...i sat in the bathroom and balled my eyes out for like an hour...now that i think about it ..it was really dumb...its not about what you get. She really didnt have to get me anything and for some odd reason she chose that gift for me..i still have the doll now and that was 6 years ago...lol just laugh about it and go on....

Christmas is about giving to others (among other things, but since this isnt a religous question I won't bring it up.).

If you're giving gifts with the assumption that you're going to be getting gifts of equal value in return, then don't bother. You shouldn't care about getting things back- you should only care that you made your friend happy. Maybe the woman can't afford more than dollar store dolls. I have to shop from dollar stores and walmart because I'm basically poor, as well as everyone in my family- but its not the VALUE of the gift, its the fact that someone cared enough to buy you anyithng at all. Appreciate the dolls!

Perhaps you haven't heard, but Christmas isn't about getting presents, it's about giving. If getting something back in return is the only reason you are giving a gift, then you are celebrating Christmas for all the wrong reasons. I think you need to study the meaning of Christmas a little deeper this year.

You got your friend something you thought that she would like, or did you get something that you would like, expecting her to get you something just like it. Christmas time is about giving not recieving. Maybe you should look at it like... could her family afford to get something better than that. Some families don't have much money to spend on Christmas, and you should have been thankful that she thought enough about you to get you something. If you dont want to get gifts that you think are cheep, either dont buy anything at all this year, or get her something cheaper. But it is not supposed to be about what the gift is, it is about that the person thought enough about you to actually buy you something, when they didn't have to do it at all
