The death of Countdown was in my opinion when Richard Whitley sadly passed away. Countdown was Richards show, and I feel that Channel 4 should have scrapped the show, and introduced a new re-worked programme on the same lines, with guest presenters such as in the case of "Have I Got News For You"
I have only watched Countdown a few times since the passing of Richard, because the show has gone "flat"

Are you talking about Des O'Connor from the sixties? Is he still alive? He used to seem ancient then.

What is Countdown? In Oz it used to be an iconic pop program.

I did like Des Lyman however since he demanded this and that I went off him.I actually think that Des O'Conner will do a good job and respect the person who he is standing in for Richard big shoes to fill. The only trouble with Des is when they have a "star" guessed he know he will not stop chatting and laughing.

Totally the wrong person. I like Des and I like Countdown, but not both together! I would've liked Richard Digeance to get the gig. He's got the irony you need, Des hasn't.

Not at all, the changeover can't come quick enough for me. Anything., A.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. to stop Ms.Vordemann being so cringingly embarrassing in her attempts to fill the comedy void. Des No.2 is the man to throw in a few jokes and put Carol back in her place dishing out the letters and numbers.

Yes I do agree. Death O'Connor more likely. For God's sake he's 74, ITV are really scraping the barrel, he can hardly string a sentence together, he's a nothing, an ex Red Coat from Butlins who got lucky. I don't want him in my living room.

Oh no not Des O'Connor your having a laugh?!

Des Lyman needs his backside kicking

Could be worse it could Harry Hill! Not that he was in the running. I can't stand Des, Name that tune and him and Melanie Sykes (I Like Melanie Sykes)...laugh at your own jokes, oh you did Des! Fingers crossed that he doesn't sing!!!!!

Possibly. But what I want to know is why there's never more than one hand goes up when they ask the audience the answer to the conundrum.
