He's a Senator in my state and personally he's too much of a "finger in the wind ", fence rider. He's for anything and stands for nothing. He votes with the majority or opts out if it's too close. He is personable. He can talk you in circles and you may think it's wonderful, till you discover he's said nothing. I am assuming you are African-American from your pic but do not assume that because he's black he has experienced the "black experience". He's about as experienced with the pitfalls of the African-American community as I am. Member of the skull and bones....same as Bush. He's had his hands in not so legal aspects in this state. Since he takes no definate stand on anything.......I don't like him. I've written him and received many responses from him. The more I know....the more I don't like him. Great public presence does not = a good president. Experience in the Illinois political system = experience in corruption not exactly "good" politics. I personally don't like Hillary either. She flip-flops. He picks splinters out of his butt.
But.....I don't know HIM personally. There are people I admire that do support him so my mind is open. All I know is there is going to be great pressure on the first minority president whether it be black or female or anything else.....so they have to be pretty special people. It's a shame, I'm not saying it's right, but they would be breaking the mold for the future and have to be the absolute "right" person for the job. Hillary has had her whole life and failures dragged through the public domain. Not many even know who Obama is, let alone be under any real test. It's gonna be a real wait and see.

He's in his first term. Hillary will be starting her second. She has a 4-year head start on him. He has introduced no legislation that has made any difference. Nor does he yet serve on any important committees. He needs to wait. His best move would be to take a spot as a Vice Presidential candidate to whomever the Democrats pick - assuming he's asked and a candidate would be a fool not to ask him - then serve as VP for 8 years. Then he could be President. Wow! 16 years of peace and prosperity under the Democrats -kind of boggles the mind, doesn't it?

I am not sure, he is young at 45 and would only be 47 at election time. I will say that JFK was also young and was embraced by the American people. I personally, while I am not sure it is electable would like to see a Clinton/Obama ticket in "08". I am sure I would support Obama if he was the democratic candidate as I would be sure that he was the most electable democratic candidate available, if he came though the primary process untarnished, from what I know about him he is well spoken and seems to be down to earth. Get ready though for the repuglican hate machine and on top of that the down south raciest machine to gang up and really fight hard to keep a person of color out of the white house.

The one thing I like about Sen. Obama is when he was asked about smoking dope in the past he replied to something of this effect..."I did inhale, that was the point." A politician who tells the truth is a rare breed...Everyone has done things in their past that they don't want others to know and he doesn't run or hide from them...I do think that he would make a great candidate for president even though he has little experience..who is to say you have to hold office for XX amount of years before running for president? but the only way I would vote for him is if John McCain doesn't run.

I have seen an interview with Obama.
And I read a little.
I think a person who is "above it all" would be a good president.
And I really don't care if he did smoke some bud and did some cocaine.
I don't like the demands that politicians background be unsullied.
Perfect, flawless, rightious holy men.
(or so it appears)
Those are the guys that are dangerous.

He will strip away the black vote from the democrats like old paint. As the Blues jump ship, the Reds will be there with the life boat.

I think that I wish people would stop saying this. One speech at a democratic convention does not make one a viable Presidential candidate. I do not know enough about him, what are the skeletons in his closet? What is his voting history? What does he stand for? Can he be an actual leader or is he just another blowhard politician who knows what shouldnt be done, but not what should should be done?

I think he has higher chances than Hillary, he doesn't seem to have any skeleton in his closet, he is a very charismatic characater... I would be really happy to give him my vote, way happier than I would to be if I have to give my vote to Hillary

He is far too left for many Democrats, much less America in general. He does have presense though. I think Hillary may best him in the primaries, though. His lack of experience will also hurt him. He needs to wait a decade or two if he wants a real chance of winning the presidency.
