For those of you who keep saying that you wouldn't put your life in the hands of a homepathic doctor-one saved my friend's life. She went to doctors for months and was as close to dying as she could be without actually being dead. The "doctors" couldn't find anything wrong with her, even after testing for "everything" and having her on meds for quite some time. She then went to a homeopathic doctor who Immediatly after hearing what was wrong did a smple test, sent her home with some herbal medicines, and a few days later she was feeling so much better. In just a couple weeks, she went from those "doctors" not knowing what to do and her not being able to get out of bed even, to a homeopathic doctor treating her for something the doctors should have tested for and her being able to get up, walk around, and go shopping even. She had Lyme Disease, and the prescriptions made it worse. I would put my life in the hands of a homeopathic doctor over an Allopathic doctor any day personally

Also, those who say that herbs do more harm than good because they mess up prescriptions, they don't mess up each other. Prescriptions are full of chemicals that cause harmful side effects. Herbs have few if any side effects and are not harmful to you. The FDA doesn't approve them cause they are completely natural. They have to approve prescriptions because with as many chemicals as there is in those things they could be extremely dangerous to take, just alone, not mixed with other daily meds. Herbs go straight to the problem, scripts go straight to the symptom. Nurses and doctors, you say scripts are better because that brings business. Pays your bills. So many people I know have actually said that they feel BETTER once they are OFF prescription meds. Think about it, Natural, or Chemical? How can a chemical be safer when you can take herbs with herbs with herbs, but meds cause problems when you take them together? Anti-Depressants can cause suicidal tendancies. Herbal Anti-deps don't.

Herbal therapy. Period.

I could talk for days and days about this subject, but due to the fact that I have limited time at the moment and no one really wants to read a year's worth of typing (lol) I'll keep it short.

First of all, drugs and surgery cause illness. The FDA, USDA, FTC, etc. all profit from the profits of the pharmaceutical companies. Because natural cures cannot be patented, meaning no profits, drug companies want to scare people from turning to them.

Not only do natural remedies have no side effects, they are 100% natural and healthy. All drugs are chemicals and unnatural, yet millions--billions really--of people believe that these are better to put into your body rather than something that the earth naturally provides.

Look at animals. Do they ever get heart burn? How about diabetes? Cancer? Nope, nope, nope. Now, of course, we are talking about wild animals. Pets that you give drugs and crappy, chemically altered food to are just as unhealthy as the humans who choose deadly chemicals over the natural cures.

Homeopathic medicine with the supervision of a N.D. or N.M.D. or D.O. or M.D. is usually best. There are a lot of things that homeopathic medicine cannot fix as well as a lot of things it can interact with. I've always been interested in Homeopathy and am going to school for my N.D. and my Master in Oriental Medicine. A great source to check out would be Alternative cures by Bill Gottlieb

Other options include homeopathic minded doctors such as Chiropractors, there are a lot of things that they can fix with spinal or joint adjustments that a MD would recommend surgury for.

Welll, interesting question. IF an herbal works it is clearly because something in it is having an effect. IF it has an effect then it can and sometimes does hurt someone somewhere---digitalis is made from foxglove...foxglove IS poison...Soy cannot be taken with thyroid meds or several other meds due to absorption issues. St John's Wort interferes with both SSRIs and wayfarin(I could go on) BUT the point is that "Natural" and safe are NOT interchangeable words.

Then we have prescription drugs. If it were not for prescription drugs I would be dead from polio at 16 months...but then again that new drug penicillin almost killed me when they gave it to me for the polio and I was in a coma for weeks.

Decisions/decisions...MMmm, I say if you own a body(and who doesn't?) then you d*mn well better know what you are doing to it or letting other people do no matter what initials are after their job title or where the chemicals come from that you pick to ingest..knowledge IS power.

Just a Small question to all prescription medicine fans !
Did God Give us herbs ?
or
Did God Give us Prescription Drugs ? :-)
I Mean What !
I am a Homeopath, I use and prescribe Homeopathic Medicine, and the patients whom I most frequently treat and cure are the ones who are sick because of using pharmaceutical drugs, the ratio of people who are originally sick and the ones whom these so called medicines have made sick, weighs the scale against the so called FDA(Fools,Dolts and A..) approved medicines.
No matter how I look at it, my vote goes to natural cures.
I have been curing people for the last 20 years and go on doing so with Homeopathic Medicine because its the New Smarter School of Medicine, Allopathy is on its way out.
No matter how they try with Biased sites like http://www.quackwatch.com which my friend here on yahoo answers "OPUS" is so fond of recommending. :-)
Its time that our doctors switch to being Healers instead of salesmen for drastic medicine manufacturers which they call medicine.

Take Care and God Bless everyone with at least some WISDOM, to see the truth. Amen
I wish all of you well !

Ideally, herbal therapy is better. It is natural with little to no side effects. It's easy to get and treat yourself. But it can also be a guessing game with what your body needs. It also takes time for the therapys to build up in your body. And it can be expensive to use as insurance doesn't cover it.

Prescriptions please.
When lying beside the road bleeding to death, don't go giving me
peppermint tea or St John's Wort!!

A common misconception about herbalism and the use of 'natural' products in general, is that 'natural' equals safe.
IT DOES NOT.
Many plants have chemical defence mechanisms against predators that can have adverse or lethal effects on humans. Examples are poison hemlock and nightshade, which can be deadly.
Herbs can also have undesirable side-effects just as pharmaceutical products can.
These problems are worsened by lack of control over dosage and purity.

I am a firm believer in herbal therapy when you have a non life threatening situation. So I guess, I wouldn't put my life in the hands of a homoeopathy doctor.

But with herbal therapy, there are no side effects on your system and it doesn't do the damage to your body that a pills a doctor prescribes to you would. I think, try homoeopathy first and then go see a doctor, if it doesn't help.

Herbal remedies are like 'apples'.
Homeopathy is like 'organges'
They are totally different.
If you are interested in 'cure' then 'homeopathy' is your only choice. In Preventive health one can use either homeo. or herbal.
I feel one should used Herbals as part of their regular diet.
If interested only in 'suppression' then Alloapthy.

every treatment has side efects if someone tells you different they don't know what they are talking about, always seek proffessional advise when it comes to medications and your health. I trust prescriprion treatments due to they have to be fda approved whereas homeepathy and herbal don't and majority of herbal remedies do not tell consumers about the side effect whereas prescription meds do, example everyone thinks green tea is wonderfull for you but it does have many side effects like heart arrythnias, anxious, interacts with medication like coumadin.People need to do all their research for whatever treatment they seek
