If it was a recent replacement, it could residual anti-freeze in bottom of housing.
Or, loose hose at firewall under the hood where the heater core hooks up.
Have the system pressure tested for leaks.

Try steam cleaning all the carpets and wipe off every thing. Antifreeze does not evaporate easily. Takes a very long time at very high temperatures.

it may have gotten the carpet wet on it ,and it might have soured on it,or there may be some old anti freeze left in the heater box on it,that will make it do that also,if its the carpet on it you,ll have to remove it,and dry it out real good to make the smell go away on it other wise it will stick around for a while on it,but id check and see for sure ,because i know that that smell is like,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Perhaps a squirrel jumped into your car trying to find a winter home and got caught in the wires and is suffereing from electro shock therapy so he keep peeing and pooping itself or it just died and started decaying behind your instrument cluster therefore leaving a rotten souring smell... Just kidding... Dadge guys probably right...

its probably what the core did before you fixed it.its probably on the floor,just dry it up the best you can and spray some fabreze on it.
