They have made plenty. What the question should be is why do they limit the quantities put onto the market when first released.

They do this for marketing purposes. They know there will be free advertising which will cause hype for there product. They also know people are not all that smart when it comes to these new toys, people will spend or do ANYTHING to be the first to own a unit.
People will even sit or stand in line and get shot with a pellet gun...people will sit or stand in line in snow, rain, cold, hot for the unit they can resale for mucho denaro....

Some day these people who will do anything for a toy will not be controlled by these game/toy/electronics companies....(as the companies ceo's are laughing at all the peeps going crazy for there product).

well they make so few of everything big and new(i used to be in marketing and i'm a marketing major) because it's all about supply and demand. People want what they can't have. Hence a HUGE medioa and comcumer craze. If they made 30 million ps3.'s available the media market wouldn't be that big because ANYONE that wanted one would get one. Now Sony has made public that they'll have about 400,000 available before years end(VERY small numbers to say the least for the national market, Nintendo has promised over 4 mil by years end(once again still small # for the amount of consumers but QUITE sizable though considering nintendo is really in a bind trying to compete in the game market this year)

Nintendo announced that they would have a full restock on Wii systems this Firday (Black Friday). They also said they would have 4 million released world wide by X-mas. They might be somewhat hard to find, but they should be no where near as bad as the PS3 in finding them. Plus, they are a better system, because the games are better.

the staff at "EB Games" and "Game Stop" told me Nintendo held off introducing Wii and timed it so PS3 would come out first with only about 500,000 units for the US. Then Nintendo comes out with their 5 million and blow PS out of the water.
I took delivery of my Wii last night at midnight and my son loves it. It is so cool
