I was wondering of any of the older cartoons before The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, if there were turtles in them. I can't think of any but there has to be some.

There was one Bugs Bunny cartoon where they did a take off of the Tortoise and the Hare Children's Fable. I think the Tortoise's was named Tom. It was an odd one because Bugs is the one who gets humiliated by the Tortoise . Usually he gets the better of the other character. Why I remember that I do not know.

Don't remember his name, but yes, Bugs Bunny would always race a turtle in a cartoon version of the tortoise and the hare.

yes, cecil turtle and touche turtle in the toons... but since you ask about turtle characters predating TMNT, and since ninja turtles started as a comic book before being a cartoon, i want to throw in fastback, the speedster turtle from the 'captain carrot and the zoo crew' comic books...

sure! sure! sure! the place have each and all of the stable cartoons long gone? I enjoyed bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. and of direction, Wylie E. Coyote. i ought to observe those cartoons persistently lower back. Oh, and Porky Pig, and Elmer Fudd!!! i substitute into even a great fan of Tiny Toon Adventures. i thought they did a surprisingly stable job of updating our old faves. yet those days, they do no longer even have Saturday morning cartoons. it extremely is like Warner Bros. gave up or something. I omit staring at. i'm 30 yet i could nevertheless watch. Oh yeah, and Pepe LePew.

The only one I can think of was the turtle that raced Bugs Bunny. He talked all slow and stuff. But, he had that rocket pack in his shell. Remember??

Well... Cecil Turtle from Looney Toons/Merrie Melodies comes to mind. He was the one that Bugs Bunny was always challanging to a race... and Cecil always gets him in the end.

no re-occurring turtles come to mind, but i loved the bugs bunny version of the tortoise and the hare.

Yes... there was an extremely slow tortoise character... skinny face, really dopey looking, with slow, oafish, "Goofy-esque" speech. Seems to me he shared some space with Bugs Bunny at one time.
